Bodhi Dharma Tamil Saint Spread Buddhism in China

Bodhi Dharma was an Indian sage who lived during the 5th/6th century. Bodhidharma is credited for spreading Buddhism in China and is now worshipped there as a Buddhist Monk. Bodhi Dharma was born as the 3rd son of a wealthy Tamil king of the Pallava Dynasty. According to scholars, the place of birth of Bodhi Dharma is recorded as Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, South India. Bodhi Dharma travelled to China to discourse the teachings of Lord Buddha to Chinese people. He crossed the Yangtze River and reached a monastery known as Shaolin Temple. According to Chinese legends, the Chinese martial arts form Shaolin Kung Fu (Shaolinquan) was created by Bodhidharma.
