The annual Kottarakkara Temple Arattu Festival is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Medam (April - May). Kottarakkara Sri Mahaganapathy Temple is a famous Lord Ganapathi temple situated at Kottarakara, in Kollam District of Kerala.
The Ultsavam Kodiyettam (Festival flag hosting) will be held on the Chadayam Nakshatra and Arattu day is on the Thiruvathira Nakshatram. The Kettukazhcha ritual held on Medathiruvathira (Thiruvathira nakstara of Meda masam), which usually falls on the Arattu day attracts thousands of devotes from all over Kerala.
