Apara Ekadashi 2023 May 15

Apara Ekadashi is observed in the month of Jyeshta, during Krishna Paksha or the waning phase of moon. Significance of observing Apara Ekadashi fast is that the vrat helps to remove our sins and provides fame. The importance of Apara Ekadasi was taught to Yudishitira by Lord Sree Krishna. Jyeshta month is known as Aani month or Edava Masam in other Hindu calendars. In  2023, Apara Ekadashi is on 15 May. 

According to Hindu scriptures fating on Apara Ekadasi helps to attain moksha. Those people who are suffering from guilt due to known or unknown sins should take this fast to get their sins erased. It is also said that anyone who observes this Ekadashi vrat will become famous in society. Apara Ekadasi vrat should be started from sunrise till the sunrise on the next day.

Apara Ekadashi is one of the 24 Ekadashi dedicated to Lord Narayana.
