Ramchaura Mandir Temple Hajipur Bihar

Ramchaura Mandir in Hajipur is a famous Hindu temple located at Rambhadra near Helabazar in Vaishali district of Bihar, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, the legendary king of Ayodhya in Ramayana. The significance of the temple is that the footprints of Lord Sri Ram are worshipped here. A popular belief is that Lord Rama had visited this place on his way to Janakpur. The temple is constructed where the footprint of Ramachander was embossed on the ground.

Sree Rama Navami, celebrated at Ramchaura Mandir, on the month of Chaitra attracts thousands of devotees from all over Bihar. Also known as Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami, the festival celebrates the birth of Sri Ram to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya A popular fair is also organised on this occasion.

Other Facts

Local folklore proclaims that Rama arrived to Hajipur for his Mundan (first head shaving ceremony). The Patna Museum exhibits numerous archaeological objects excavated from Ramchaura. Bari Sangat and Chhoti Sangat are situated near Ramchaura Mandir.
