Seetha Amman Temple Sita Eliya Sri Lanka

Seetha Amman Temple in Sri Lanka is a unique Hindu temple which has reference with the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana. Sita Amman Temple is located in the village named Seetha Eliya, which is believed to be place where Sita Devi, the wife of Lord Rama, was held captive by the Rakshasa king Ravana. The temple is also one of the few temples dedicated to Sita. The temple is located on Nuwara Eliya Kandy road very close to the scenic town of Nuwara Eliya, around 8 km from here.

Seethai Amman Temple is located within a kilometre distance from Hakgala Botanical Garden, which is known as Ashok Vatika in Ramayana. The main temple enshrines Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Lakshmana. There is a separate shrine for Lord Hanuman. An idol of Jatayu can be seen outside the main shrine.  Statues of Dasavatara forms of Vishnu adorns on the top of the temple main sanctum. Seetha River flows near the temple and footprints of Hanuman can be seen on the rocks in the river.

Temple pooja timings are from 8 AM to 1PM and from 2 PM to 6:30 PM.
