Dakshina Mookambika Temple North Paravur

Dakshina Mookambika Temple in North Paravur is a famous Goddess Saraswati located in Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. The temple is revered the same importance as the Mookambika Temple in Kollur, Mangalore. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is in the midst of a beautiful lotus pool. The presiding deity is worshiped as Goddess Bala Parameswari, the daughter of Lalitha Parameswari.

Dakshina Mookambika Temple North Paravur

Dakshina Mookambika Temple was constructed by Paravur Thampuran, a great devotee of Mookambika Devi, around 500 years ago. The temple has separate shrines for Lord Ganeshs, Subhramanya, Maha Vishnu, Hanuman and Veerabhadra. A shrine dedicated to Yakshi can be seen on the southwest corner. One of the uniqueness of the temple is the daily Kashaya Nivedyam during the Atthazha Pooja (at 7.30 pm). The nivedya (also known as Mookambika Kashayam) is prepared with herbs in the traditional manner and is considered as a sacred medicine to enhance wisdom. Daily poojas are performed by thanthris of Puliyanoor mana in Tripunithura.

Festivals 

Navratri festival is the major festival celebrated at the temple. Vidyarambham or Ezhuthinirithu ceremony is conducted on the Durgashtami day from 4 AM to 11 AM.  The temple also celebrates the ten-day annual festival in the month of Makaram (January–February).

Temple Timings

The temple opens daily for worship from 5 AM to 11 AM. Evening poojas are from 5 PM to 7.30.

How to Reach

Aluva Railway Station is around 16 km from the temple. The Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery is the nearest airport to reach Saraswati Temple North Paravur.
