Attukal Pongala 2022 Festival Calendar

This year Attukal Pongala 2022date is on 17 February. The festival popular across the world as a “Women’s Festival” is celebrated at Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The main ritual of the festival is Pongala offering by women to Goddess Attukal Amma – an incarnation of Goddess Parvati.

Attukal Ponkala is a 10 days long festival which commences on the Karthika naksthatra in the Malayalam month of Makaram - Kumbham (February - March). Kappukettu ceremony marks the beginining of the fesival - the story of Goddess Kannaki is rendered in a musical form. The Pongala offering is on the 9th day. Kuruthi Tharppanam (Sacrificial offering) marks the conclution of the festival on the final day.
