The festival begins with the ceremonial flag hoisting performed under the chief priesthood of Brahmashree Kandharar Mohanar, Thantri of Chengannur Thazhamon Madom, and concludes with the sacred Thiru Aarattu.

The Maha Shivaratri celebrations at Kavarattu Sree Mahadeva Temple are conducted with great emphasis on traditional tantric rituals, temple customs, and ceremonial processions, strictly following the guidance of the temple Thantri.
With heartfelt gratitude, the temple acknowledges the continuous support and cooperation extended by devotees and well-wishers, which contribute to the spiritual growth, prosperity, and dignity of the temple.

As part of the Shivaratri Mahotsavam, various religious and cultural programs are organized, transforming the entire region into a vibrant atmosphere of devotion and festivity.

Newly Consecrated Nandikesha Vahanam

A special highlight of this year’s festival is the dedication of the newly constructed Nandikesha Vahanam to Lord Mahadeva, offered for the darshan and blessings of devotees during the Mahotsavam.
