Shivaratri and Karthika Mahotsavam 2026 at Nagaroor Nandhaivanam Nedumparambu Mavelikonam Sree Bhagavathi Temple is a spiritually significant annual celebration observed with deep devotion and traditional grandeur. The temple, along with its Mulasthanam, Chemmallikkonam Sree Bhadrakali–Shiva Temple, stands as an important center of Saktheya and Saiva worship in the Alankode region of Thiruvananthapuram district.
Located at Nedumparambu P.K., Alankode – 695102, and registered under Reg. No: TVM/TC/211/2022, the temple has a long-standing tradition of conducting sacred festivals that blend ritual discipline, community participation, and spiritual observance. The Shivaratri and Karthika Mahotsavam for the year 2026 will be held from 15 February to 24 February 2026 (Malayalam Era 1201, Kumbham 3 to 12).
Shivaratri is one of the most revered nights dedicated to Lord Shiva, symbolizing spiritual awakening, self-discipline, and inner transformation. Devotees observe fasting, night-long prayers, abhishekams, and bhajans, believing that sincere worship on Shivaratri removes ignorance and grants divine grace. Lighting of lamps (Karthika Vilakku) during this period signifies the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.
