Parasurama Jayanthi or Parashurama Jayanti 2022 May 3

The date of Parasurama Jayanthi 2022 is on 3 May.  Lord Parasurama is the sixth avatar of Maha Vishnu. Parasurama Jayanthi is celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha in the Vaishakha Masam in Hindu calendar. Usually Parashurama Jayanti falls one day before the Akshaya Tritiya day.

Lord Parasurama was born as the son of Sage Jamadagni and Renuka. Parashurama is regarded as the first warrior Brahman (Brahmakshatriya) or the first warrior saint. The aim of Parasurama’s birth is to save the Mother Nature from the kshatriya kings who neglected their duties and strayed from the path of Dharma.

Lord Parasurama Temples in India

There are not many temples dedicated to Lord Parashurama is India. Lord Parasurama is more popular in the Indian states of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra. The Thiruvallam Sree Parasuramaswamy Temple in Trivandrum is one of the most popular temples dedicated to Lord Parasurama. Lord Parashurama Swamy Temple at Lote Parshurama in Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra is another popular temple.

Though there are not much temples of Lord Parasurama, some of the most popular temples in India were constructed by Lord Parashurama to bring back the devotion and dhrama in people.

Seven Mukti Sthalas 

The Seven Mukti Sthalas in Karnataka were created by Parashurama. The idol of Goddess Kanyakumari Devi in Kanyakumari Temple Tamilnadu, the idol of Dharma Sastha Temple in Sabarimala are some of the other famous temples constructed by Parasurama.
