TIGER’S NEST MONASTERY

The Taktshang Goemba in Bhutan, popularly known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, is one of the country’s most remarkable landmarks. One of the major attractions of the monastery complex is its beautifully decorated chapels. Their walls are adorned with intricate paintings, murals, and religious inscriptions. One of the smaller chapels houses the sacred cave where Guru Rinpoche is believed to have meditated. The walls of this chapel feature murals depicting his eight manifestations. Another chapel contains a rock-carved image of the goddess Dorje Phagmo, located beneath a small opening in the floor.

The monastery also contains sacred objects and structures associated with Buddhist saints and followers who meditated at Taktshang. Several larger chapels house magnificent golden statues, along with offerings presented by devoted pilgrims.
