HariHara Picture - Combined Deity form of Vishu - Shiva

Harihara or Hari-Hara is the combined form of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Vishnu is also known as Hari and Shiva as Hara. As HariHara is the half Vishnu – half Shiva concept, Hari-Hara is considered as the Supreme God and is worshipped by both Vaishnavites and Shaivities.

Lord Ayyappa, also known as Hariharasutan or Manikantan, is believed to be son of Hari-Hara. During the Kurma Avatar, Lord Vishnu also took the form of Mohini to give birth to Lord Ayyappa, the divine child, who would combine both the powers of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu to kill the asura princess Mahishi.
