Chidambaram Temple Aani Thirumanjana Festival

The ancient Chidambaram Natarajar Temple is situated in the heart of the temple town of Chidambaram, 60 km from Karaikal and 78 km from Pondicherry in Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu. Chidambaram Temple, one of the Panchabhoota Sthalams or Pancha Bootha Sthalas (five holiest Lord Shiva Temples) representing akasha (sky), is the holy adobe of Lord Nataraja and his consort Sri Sivakama Sundari.

Chidambaram Natarajar Temple celebrates Brahmotsavam twice a year in Utharayanam and Dakshinayanam. This years Utharayanam Aani Thirumanjana Festival is from 10th June 2010 to 20th June 2010.

10th June 2010 – Dwajarohanam (Commencement of Festival)
11th June 2010 – Silver Chandra Prabhai
12th June 2010 – Golden Surya Prabhai
13th June 2010 – Silver Bootha Vahanam
14th June 2010 – Silver Vrishabha Vahanam
15th June 2010 – Silver Elephant Vahanam
16th June 2010 – Silver Kailasa Vahanam
17th June 2010 – Bhikshadanamoorthy in Golden Car

18th June 2010 – Rathothsavam or Car Festival

19th June 2010 – Sakala Dravya Mahaabishekam (held Before Sunrise) Aani Thirumanjana Dharshanam and Gnanakasa Chitsabha Pravesa Darshanam (held on After Noon)

20th June 2010 – Pearl Palanquin Procession

The most important day during the Chidambaram Temple Brahmotsavam festival is the Sakala Dravya Mahaabishekam which is on 19th June 2010. On this day the temple authorities have arranged Annadhanam function for devotees.
