Kalyanasougandhikam or Kalyana Sougandhikam Kathakali will be staged at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple today as part of the Painguni Festival 2011. Kathakali will be staged at 10.30 PM at the Nataka Sala, situated on the ground floor under the gopuram.
Kalyanasougandhikam Kathakali is a classical Indian dance-drama which tells the story of the Bheema (Bhima) – one of the Pandava brothers in Mahabharatha – going in search of the Kalyanasougandhikam flower in the forest for his wife Panchali. The story also portrait the scene of Bhima meeting his brother Lord Hanuman in the forest.
