Pournami Celebrations at Santhigiri Ashram ThiruvananthapuramSanthigiri Ashram at Pothencode, Thiruvananthapuram will celebrate Pournami or full moon day today, the 17th April 2011. Santhigiri Ashram, the adobe of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, celebrates Pournami as a day for prayers and fasting in the Ashram. It is believed that pournami day is very auspicious for spiritual and material well being. The pournami day celebrations start in the early morning at 5.00 AM with special poojas in the ashram premises. According to Karunakara Guru, pournami day is the perfect day to pray for one’s ancestral lineage which helps a person to change his capability and propensity for karmagathi action. Thousands of devotees visit the ashram to attend and pray throughout day and night on full moon day.

Santhigiri Ashram is situated around 23 km from Trivandrum City at Pothencode. The place is around 12 km from Sreekariyam. Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is the nearest railway station to reach Santhigiri Ashram.
