The annual Agasthyakoodam Pilgrimage in Trivandrum Kerala will begin on January on Makaravilakku day and conclude on Shivaratri Festival day. Agasthyakoodam or Agastya Mala is a sacred pilgrimage site and a scenic spot situated 70 km from Thiruvananthapuram, in the Western Ghats of South India.
Agasthya Koodam Mountain is the second highest peak in Kerala after Anamudi Peak. One needs to trek 22 km to reach the top the mountain. Usually it takes two days and one night for the pilgrimage tour.
Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve is home to numerous rare herbs and medicinal plants. Visitors are allowed to trek to Agastya Mala only in the months of January and February, after taking entry pass from the Forest Department of Kerala. The entry passes for Agastya Mala pilgrimage will be available from 11th January from the Trivandrum Forest Headquarters office at PTP Nagar.
