Significance of Tulasi Divine Herb

Tulasi or Holy basil is a sacred plant in Hinduism and is regarded as the avatar of Goddess Lakshmi. Tulasi is a divine herb blessed with healing powers. There are two kinds of Tulasi one is the green leaved Rama Tulasi and the other with purple-leaved Krishna Tulasi. Tulasi has religious as well as medical importance. It is a considered as a divine herbal plant which is mainly used in the worship of Lord Vishnu and his avatars including Lord Krishna, Lord Balarama, and Lord Hanuman. 

In Ayurveda Tulasi is used as a main medicine for many diseases. Common uses of Tulasi are listed below. Tulasi leaves have the power to heal fever, common cold, coughs. It is a medicine used to fight against respiratory disorder, kidney stone, heart disorders, insect bites, mouth infections, skin problems, beats diabetes, eye disorders, beats cancer, children’s ailments, stomach diseases, and lung disorder. It helps to quit smoking, reduces stress, sharpen the memory, keeps skin and hair healthy and glowing.

Traditionally, Tulasi plant has an important place in all Hindu houses. Tulasi is planted in the center of the central courtyard of houses.
