Kalaram Temple Nashik

Kalaram Temple in Nashik is a famous temple of Lord Rama located in the Panchavati area in Maharashtra, India. The temple is constructed in the place where Shree Ram has spent his time in Nashik. Shree Kalaram Mandir Sansthan got its name as the idol of Lord Ram is black in colour. The statue of Sri Rama is flanked by Goddess Sita in the left and Lakshman at right.

The temple is regarded as the most sacred shrine in the city. The main entrance has a Lord Hanuman deity which is black. The temple also has a shrine of Lord Ganesh. Shree Ram Navratra and Ramnavami in the Chaitra month is the most important temple festival held annually. Dasara festival in the month of Ashwin is also celebrated with great importance.

History 

Panchavati Sri Kala Rama Swamy Temple was built around in 1788. The temple was funded by Sardar Rangarao Odhekar. Once Odhekar had a dream that a black statue of Lord Ram was lying in Godavari River. The next day he took the statue from the river and the construction of the temple was started in 1780 under the consultation with Sawaee Madhavrao Peshwa. The main temple was completed by the year 1792. The place where the statue was found is considered holy and is named as Ramkund. The temple also houses an old tree with footprint impressions of Lord Dattatreya.

Temple Timings and Pooja Services

The temple opens daily at 5:30 am. Kakad Aarti is performed in the morning. The temple closed at 1:00 pm after Mahanyas Pooja of Lord Rama and Maha Aarti. Evening worshiping hours are from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Shej Aarti of Lord Rama is from 7:00 Pm to 8:00 Pm.
