Matsya Jayanti 2022 is celebrated on April 4. Matsya Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Matsya avatar, the first Dasavatara incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Mahavishnu took the form of a one-horned fish to rescue the Vedas during Satya Yuga.
Matsya Jayanthi is observed on the Tritiya day in the Hindu Chaitra month. The festival usually coincides with Gangaur festivities. In Lord Vishnu temples special poojas are conducted as part of the festival.
