Vaikasi Visakam is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Muruga or Karthikeya. It is observed during Visakam Nakshatra in Tamil month of Vaikasi. The festival is celebrated with great importance in temples dedicated to Lord Muruga. The day falls on the month of May or June. On this auspicious day, the devotees take out procession and carry milk to Subramania temples to perform milk Abhishekam (Pal Abhishekam) to Lord Kartikeya. In 2022, Vaikasi Visakam is observed on 12 June.
