Govindamangalam Mahavishnu Temple Trivandrum

Chinmaya Mission Shree Govindamangalam Sree Mahavishnu Temple is one of the main Lord Vishnu temples in Trivandrum. The temple is situated on Pravachambalam­ - Ooruttambalam Road around 15 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Govinda, one of the important forms of Lord Vishnu. The place, Govindamangalam got its name after the deity.

Maha Vishnu Temple Govindamangalam was constructed by Koopakkara Madam Namboothiri more than 1000 years ago. The temple sreekovil faces west and is in round in shape (Vattasree kovil). Shadadharaprathista is one of the specialties of the temple. The temple has separate shrines for Ganapathy, Shiva, Ayyappan, and Nagaraja. Garlands with Thulasi leaves, beaten rice with jaggery, and Neyvilaku are the special offerings.

Govindamangalam Mahavishnu Temple

In 1981, Koopakkara madam handed over the authorities of Govindamangalam Vishnu Temple to Chinmaya Mission. The temple was renovated and rebuilt according to Kerala Temple Architecture and Dwaja pratishta was also performed.
