Karuka Grass Durva Cyndon dactylon Dasapushpam

Karuka or Durva grass (Cyndon dactylon) is one of the important offering for Lord Ganesha. Also known as Arugampul Bahama grass, Bermuda grass and Couch grass, Karuka is one of the Dasapushpam or 10 Sacred Flowers used for Hindu rituals and poojas. It is believed that Karuka Homa is a sure remedy for children with Balarishta dosa in the horoscope. Balarishta creates problems in childhood.

Karuka plant has many medicinal properties according to Ayurveda. It is a traditional herb and is used for the treatment of skin diseases, diabetes  and urinary tract infections.
