Ganesha Temple Idagunji Karnataka

Idagunji Ganesha Temple or Shree Vinayaka Devaru is a Hindu temple located at Idagunji in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India. The primary deity worshiped here is Lord Vinayaka, in dvibhuja style. Idagunji temple is one of the six famous Ganesha temples on the west Coast of India.

This idol has two arms and is standing on a stone slab. The image is about 83 cm in tall and 59 cm in width and is placed on stone pedestal. Lord Vinayaka holds a lotus bud in his right hand and he holds a modaka sweet in his other hand. He wears a garland across the chest in the style of a sacred thread. Ganesha is also adorned with a necklace of small bells. Mushika, the vahana of Ganesha is not depicted here.

The temple is situated close to the Sharvathi River. Idagunji temple is part of a temple circuit of six Ganesha temples along India's western coast. The circuit starts with Kundapura, Idagunji, Kasaragod, Mangalore, Anegudde and Gokarna. Any person visiting with his family all the six temples, within one day between sunrise and sunset will receive special blessings from Ganesha. The best puja offering that a devotee offers to Lord Ganesha is garike grass.

Location

The temple is situated close to Manki, Mavinakatte and is about 14 km from Honavar, 28 km from Navilgaon, 65 km from Gokarna. This place is well connected by means of road, rail and air. The nearest railway station is Honnavara Railway Station.
