Veezhinathar Temple Thiruveezhimizhalai Thiruvarur Tamil Nadu

Veezhinathar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Thiruveezhimizhalai, a village in Thiruvarur District in Tamil Nadu. The primary deities worshiped here are Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy, in the form of Veezhinathar and Azhagiya Maamulai Amman. The temple is the 61st Padal Petra Kovil also known as Paadal Petra Sthalams in the Chola Naadu, South of Kaveri.

According to legends, Goddess Parvati Devi is said to have been reborn as Goddess Katyayani Devi and married Lord Shiva here. It is also believed that Lord Vishnu received the cosmic weapon Chakrayudam from Veezhinathar here in lieu of the 1000 flower worship to Shiva.

The main festival celebrated here is Maha Shivarathri. This festive occasion draws a huge crowd of devotees to the temple. Lot of people will come here to fulfill  their wishes.

The temple is open from 06:00 am to 12:00 Noon and 04:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The temple is well-connected by means of road, rail and air transportation.
