Kanichukulangara Devi Temple Cherthala Kerala

Kanichukulangara Devi Temple is a famous temple of Goddess Bhagawathi located near Cherthala in Alappuzha, Kerala, India. The primary deity worshiped here is Hindu mother goddess known locally as Kanichukulangara Devi. The temple is very famous for the Pongala Festival, Chikkara Festival and Thooka Chadu. The Fire Works conducted as part of the festival attracts thousands of devotees.

The Major festival starts in Bharani in the month of Kumbham with Kodiyettu and ends with Thiruvonam. This is a 21-day festival celebrated grandly. Ladies perform Thalapppoli here as it is something special and arranged in row wise putting the poli at the Nada. About 1000s of thalam are carried from different place to the Thirusannidhi. During the 12th, 13th and 14th day drawings made with five-coloured powders in the shape of Cobra for the Sarpadaivams and Pullavan Song is also sung.
