This temple holds great significance as a Hindu pilgrimage center in the Ang Pradesh region of Bihar. The primary highlight of the temple revolves around the deity Jaleshwari, an incarnation of Shakti who emerged from the waters of the adjacent river, Jal. Devotees firmly believe that the idol of Jaleshwari experiences a gradual increase in height each passing year. 

The village of Bhawanpura is considered to be shielded from the wrath of Kosi due to the divine blessings bestowed by Maa Jaleshwari. With a benevolent spirit, she bestows her devotees with abundance and joy, ensuring a life filled with purity.

The Maa Jaleshwari idol was placed at the heart of Bhawanpura village in a temple resembling a hut. Over time, this temple grew into one of the biggest temples in the Bihpur of Bhagalpur.
