Murajapam and Lakshadeepam are two major sacred rituals performed at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, celebrated once every six years as part of the Murajapam - Lakshadeepam festival. The term Murajapam comes from mura, meaning repetition, and japam, meaning chanting. During this ritual, Vedic scholars chant the Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas continuously in cycles for 56 days.  The chanting is believed to purify the surroundings and invoke divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the community.
