Shivaratri Celebration 2026 – Thavidisseri Varavadikkavu Sree Kirathamurthi Temple
The Thavidisseri Varavadikkavu Sree Kirathamurthi Temple, located at Porakkunnu (P.O.), via Mathamangalam, Kannur District, Kerala – 670306, reverently announces the Shivaratri Celebration and Trikala Pooja 2026, to be observed on Sunday, 15 February 2026 (Malayalam Era 1201, Kumbham 03).
This year’s Shivaratri Mahotsavam will be conducted under the chief karmikatvam of Temple Thantri Brahmasree Thekkiniyedath Tharananelloor Padmanabhan Unninamboodiripad, ensuring the rituals are performed with strict adherence to traditional Tantric and Vedic practices. The temple committee warmly invites devotees to participate in this sacred observance and seeks their wholehearted support for the successful conduct of the festival.
Sacred Ritual Schedule
The ceremonies commence in the early morning at 5:30 AM with Nadathurakkal. The day will include the temple’s customary poojas and ritualistic observances performed with devotion and discipline.
At 12:00 Noon, Nada Adakkal will take place, followed by the evening reopening at 5:30 PM. The evening rituals feature Visheshal Pooja, Sahasra Deepam Theliyikkal (lighting of a thousand lamps), and Shiva Pooja, creating a serene and spiritually uplifting ambiance.
Cultural Programs
The festival celebrations also highlight Kerala’s rich devotional and artistic traditions. At 10:00 AM, the Aksharasloka Sadassu will be presented by the Aksharasloka Samithi of Annoor Mahavishnu Temple, offering devotees a unique experience of classical poetic recitation and literary devotion.
From 7:00 PM onwards, various cultural performances by local artists will enliven the temple premises. These programs reflect the vibrant cultural spirit of the region while maintaining the sacred essence of the Shivaratri celebrations.
Annadanam
Annadanam will be offered as part of the festival, symbolizing compassion, unity, and sacred service. Devotees are encouraged to participate and receive prasadam with devotion.
