Varaha Purana
Introduction
Varaha Purana is one among the eighteen great Puranas of Hindu tradition and contains nearly 24,000 verses. This sacred scripture mainly glorifies the Varaha incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who assumed the form of a divine boar to rescue Mother Earth from the demon Hiranyaksha. The Purana explains spiritual principles, sacred rituals, duties of mankind, religious observances, and the path toward salvation. Story of the Varaha Avatar
The central theme of the Varaha Purana revolves around the incarnation of Lord Vishnu as Varaha, the divine boar. According to the scripture, the demon Hiranyaksha abducted Mother Earth and submerged her into the cosmic ocean. To restore balance in the universe, Vishnu appeared in the powerful form of Varaha and fought the demon. After defeating Hiranyaksha, the Lord lifted the Earth on his tusks and restored her to her rightful place.
