Experience Kerala's First Varahi Panchami Devi Temple During the Sacred Ashadha Navaratri Festival

Sree Panchami Devi Temple, located at Pettah, Kallummoodu, Anayara P.O., Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala, is a unique and spiritually significant temple dedicated to Goddess Durga and Sri Varahi Panchami Devi. It is regarded as the first Varahi Panchami Devi Temple in Kerala and is believed to be the only temple in the world where Goddess Durga and her commander, Goddess Varahi Panchami Devi, are worshipped with equal prominence within the same sanctum.

Every Panchami day, thousands of devotees from across Kerala and other parts of India visit the temple to light lamps, offer prayers, and seek the blessings of the Divine Mother.

Ashadha Navaratri Mahotsavam 2026

The temple will celebrate the Ashadha Navaratri Mahotsavam from 15 July to 23 July 2026 (Ashadha 24 to Sravana 1, Saka Era 1948).

Ashadha Navaratri is one of the most sacred Navaratri observances in Shakta tradition. The festival is dedicated to Sri Varahi Devi, one of the Sapta Matrikas and the commander of Goddess Durga's divine army. This nine-day celebration marks the beginning of a new annual tradition at the temple and is the first festival of its kind dedicated to Varahi Devi in Kerala.

Importance of Ashadha Navaratri

Among the five Navaratris observed in the Hindu tradition, Ashadha Navaratri is associated with the Agni (Fire) element and is also known as Theyu Navaratri. It coincides with the beginning of Dakshinayana, making it an especially auspicious period for worship, spiritual practices, and Devi Upasana.

Devotees believe that worshipping Goddess Varahi during these nine sacred days removes obstacles, grants prosperity, protects against negative energies, and fulfills sincere prayers.
