The significance of Lord Muruga cannot be explained fully even by his father Lord Shiva and he cannot be avoided by any anyone in their daily life, especially by his devotees. Though there are several thousands of gods in Hinduism, Lord Muruga occupies an important place in our worship. Lord Muruga contains temples all over the world. But certain Murugan temples are considered to be very auspicious, and one such temple, is the wonderful Gnanamalai Murugan Temple.

Gnanamalai Murugan would give wisdom and spiritual enlightenment not only to the sages and saints but also he would shower his grace to ordinary people like us. This temple is situated a few kilometres far away from the famous Sri Sholingur Narasimha Temple. Those who visit Sholingur must have to visit this wonderful Gnana Malai Murugan Temple also.

Saint Arunagirinathar has seen the lotus feet of Lord Muruga at this temple, and he received the blessings of his beloved Lord Muruga. He has also sung few songs in praise of Lord Murugan at this wonderful temple. Beautiful hill, a lake and paddy fields are also situated nearby this temple which provides a rich feast for the eyes and to the soul. One has to climb few hundred steps to reach the temple.  The medicinal Neem trees can be found there in plenty, and it is believed that for the pure hearted devotees, the leaves of the neem tree tastes sweet!

Those who get afraid even for small, small silly things will become very brave, once if they visit and worship Sri Gnana Malai Murugan, and the posture of Lord Muruga implies, “WHY FEAR? WHEN I AM HERE” Lord Murugan, is also worshipped here as Brahma Sastha, since as per legend, once he has punished Lord Brahma, and began to start doing the creation work at this place only! Gnana malai Murugan was worshipped even by the ancient Cholas and Pallava Kings.

Apart from Gnana Malai Hill, there are two more hills known as the Valli hill and the Thiruthanika Hill. Visiting all these three mountains within a single day is said to be a very special one. Temple Kumbabhisheham event took place on April 2004.
