Yoga Ganapati Form of Ganesha

Yoga Ganapati is the 30th of Lord Ganesha’s 32 forms. In this form Lord Ganesh is depicted in yogic stance with his both legs tied up in a rope. The lord appears in absorbed meditation posture with four hand. His complexion is radiant like morning sun and adorned with blue color attire. His main right hand holds japa beads mala (Rudraksha) and his main left hand holds the yoga staff. On his other hands holds sugarcane and a noose.

Pururutathi (Purva Bhadrapada) nakshatra is related to Yoga Ganapati. Though the lord is in deep meditation, still hears to the worship of his devotees and directs his yogic powers. Worshipping Yoga Ganapathi form is believed to protect his devotees and remove all obstacles. Yoga Ganapati idol can be worshipped in Sivalokanathan Temple (Nandanar Temple) in Thirupungur, Tamil Nadu.

English Translation and Meaning

Yoga Ganapati, seated in Yoga posture, in blissful meditation, bright like the rising sun, clad in blue clothes, glowing like the soft moon, holding in His hands noose, sugarcane, arrow and the Yogadanda, protect us at all times from all obstacles.
