Ashtabharya Eight Wives of Krishna

Ashtabharya or Ashta Bharyas are the Eight Wives of Lord Krishna. In Hinduism, Sree Krishna is associated with a group of eight principal queen consorts and they are collectively known as Ashtabharya or the eight wives. According to Bhagavata Purana the Ashtabharyas are

1) Rukmini
2) Satyabhama
3) Jambavati
4) Kalindi
5) Mitravinda
6) Nagnajiti
7) Bhadra
8) Lakshana (sometimes spelled as Lakshmana)

Some variations can be seen in other puranas such as Vishnu Purana and Harivamsa Purana, which replaces Bhadra with Madri or Rohini.

Rukmini enjoys the position as the chief queen (Patrani) of Dwaraka. She was the princess of Vidarbha and is regarded as an avatar of Goddess Lakshmi. Satyabhama is the second wife of Krishna and is considered as an avatar of Bhudevi. Rukmini and Satyabhama are worshipped along with Krishna as they are incarnations of Lakshmi and Bhoomidevi.
