History of Aishwarya Ganapathi Idol in Avancha
In the agricultural field of Avancha, Thimmajipet, Telangana, lies a colossal granite boulder adorned with the ancient sculpture of Ganesha. This exquisite idol was skillfully crafted during the 12th century by a monarch from the Western Chalukya dynasty.
King Thylapudu, ruler of Avancha, sculpted the monolithic idol known as Kapilavai Linga Moorthy. King Vikramaditya, who hailed from the western Chalukya dynasty, was the ruler of the Badami kingdom, which is located in the present-day Gulbarga district.
The Telangana region was under the rule of the dynasty for a span of more than two centuries. Someshwarudu and Thylapudu, the sons of Vikramaditya, played significant roles in this dynasty. Thylapudu, in particular, was appointed as the Samanta Raju of a specific province called erstwhile Kandoor, with its capital being Avancha since 1113 AD.
