Under the administration of the Travancore Devaswom Board, Vaikom Group, the revered Thrichattukulam Sree Mahadevar Temple will observe its annual Mahotsavam with traditional rituals, devotional offerings, and magnificent temple art performances. The festival is organized with the support of the Thuruthibhagam NSS Karayogam No. 3610, reflecting strong community participation and devotion.
As part of the Mahotsavam, a special Rudrabhishekam with lamp offerings will be conducted, symbolizing purification, divine grace, and spiritual upliftment. This sacred offering is devotedly submitted by Karthik and Hrithvik, Anunivas, as an expression of faith and gratitude to Lord Mahadeva.
The festival day is enriched with a series of classical and traditional temple art performances. The morning begins with Sopana Sangeetham from 7:30 AM, creating a serene devotional atmosphere. This is followed by special Nadaswaram performances by the renowned Nenmara Brothers, along with distinguished musicians including Sri Puduvai K. L. Balamuralikrishnan and other eminent artists from various classical traditions.
In the afternoon, the temple grounds resonate with the grandeur of Major Set Panchavadyam, featuring master percussionists on Thimila, Kombu, Idakka, and Maddalam. More than 60 accomplished artists come together for a Special Panchari Melam, presenting a powerful and synchronized ensemble that reflects Kerala’s rich temple music heritage.
A prasadam oottu is arranged for devotees as part of the celebrations, reinforcing the spirit of service and inclusiveness.
The Mahotsavam reaches its spiritual peak on January 26, 2026 (Makaram 12, 1201). The evening rituals begin with Deeparadhana at 8:30 PM, followed by devotional bhajans presented by Sreeradheyam Bhajans, Harippad. The auspicious Bharani Vilakku ritual adds divine brilliance to the celebrations.
Later, a Special Pandimelam, led by RLV Deepak Chand, electrifies the temple atmosphere. At 2:00 PM, the grand Koodiyezhunnallath (ceremonial procession) takes place, considered highly significant for darshan. Majestic elephants line up for the procession on the Manimahotsavam day of Thrichattukulathappan, enhancing the visual and spiritual splendor of the festival.
