An Ancient and Rare Shaiva Tradition
The Sree Thalathotta Mahadeva Temple is one of the rarest and most ancient temples in Kerala, where Lord Parameshwara, the universal force behind creation, preservation, and dissolution, is worshipped in two sanctums—as Dakshinamurthy and Vadakkumnathan. Uniquely, the annual festival is conducted with equal importance to two flagstaffs (Kodimaram), making this temple’s rituals exceptional in Kerala’s temple tradition.
The Thiruvutsavam 2026 begins with Thrikodiyettu (flag hoisting) on 2 February 2026 (Makaram 19) and concludes with the sacred Thiruarattu on 9 February 2026 (Makaram 26). The celebrations culminate with the spiritually intense Maha Shivaratri on 15 February 2026 (Kumbham 03).
