A Sacred Day to Cleanse Karma & Receive the Blessings of Lord Krishna
Kamada Ekadashi is one of the most spiritually significant Ekadashi fasts observed in the Hindu calendar. Falling during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) in the month of Chaitra, this auspicious day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, particularly worshipped in the form of Lord Krishna.
Spiritual Significance
Kamada Ekadashi is believed to:
- Cleanse past sins and negative karma
- Fulfill heartfelt desires (“Kamada” means wish-fulfilling)
- Protect devotees from curses and misfortunes
- Bring peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment
Observing this Ekadashi with devotion is said to be as powerful as performing great spiritual penances.
Legend Behind Kamada Ekadashi
According to ancient scriptures, a Gandharva named Lalit once committed a mistake due to distraction while performing in a royal court. As a result, he was cursed to become a demon. His devoted wife Lalita sought help from sages, who advised her to observe Kamada Ekadashi.
With sincere fasting and prayers, she performed the vrat and dedicated its merit to her husband. By the grace of Lord Krishna, Lalit was freed from the curse and restored to his original form. This story highlights the immense power of devotion and the transformative blessings of this sacred day.
