Elamkavu Attuvela Festival 2012 in Kerala

Attuvela Mahotsavam or Elamkavu Attuvela Festival 2012 is a famous Kerala festival celebrated at Elankavu Sree Bhagavathy Temple situated at Vadayar, in Kottayam district of Kerala. The Attuvela Mahotsavam is a delightful water carnival which falls in the Malayalam month of Meenam. In 2012, the date of Elamkavu Attuvela Festival is on 25th March 2012.

Elamkavu Attuvela water procession begins from the Attuvela kadavu situated 2 km away from the temple. The major attraction of Elamkavu Attuvela Festival is the procession of devotees carrying exquisitely illuminated canoes and huge replicas of Elamkavu Temple through the river Moovattupuzha river. This wonderful procession is accompanied by numerous decorated small canoes and traditional Kerala temple percussion music. It is believed that the float festival is conducted to welcome Goddess Kodungallur Bhagavathy to Elankavu, who used to visit the Goddess here during the Meena Masam.
