Pashupatinath Temple in Mandsaur is a famous Lord Shiva temple located in Madhya Pradesh, India.

Pashupatinath Temple in Mandsaur

This is a rare temple where Lord Shiva is worshiped in Pashupati form – the Lord of all animals. The temple is next to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple of Kathmandu Nepal. The mandir is also known as Ashtmukhi Pashupatinath Temple and lies on the banks of Shivna River in Mandsaur (previously known as Dashpur).

Significance of 8 Face Shivling

The uniqueness of Pashupatinath Temple is that the Shivalinga enshrined here is with eight faces. The idol is divided into two parts which four faces on the top section and remaining four faces on the lower section. The temple has four doors in all four directions – East, West, North and South. The east face is calm and quiet in the form of Yogeshwara while the west face depicts the Rudra Roop. The south face is the most bright and spectacular among all. The north face depicts Lord Shiv in old age; however this face is so full of happiness which looks as if Lord Shiva is going to burst out in laughter at any moment.
