Puri Jagannath Temple is a famous pilgrimage for Hindu devotees and a popular tourist center. It is considered as one of the mysterious temple in India due to some facts that dont have any scientific explantions.

1) Temple flag always floats in opposite direction of the wind.

2) Flag is changed everyday by the priest. He climbs the dome of the temple which is considered to be as tall as a 45 storied building.

4)The temple is constructed in a very unique engineering structure that the shadow of the main dome cannot be observed at any time.

5) In puri direction of the wind in Puri is just the opposite from all other places. In puri the wind from sea comes to land at evening and blows from land towards sea during daytime.

6) The quantity of Prasadam cooked in the temple always remains the same throughout the year irrespective of the number of devotees visiting. None of the day it goes insufficient or wasted.

7) 7 pots are put on top of another and the top most pot gets cooked first followed by the bottom pot in order.

As the color of Lord Jagannath is dark the neem tree from which his idol is to be carved out should be dark in color and must have four principal branches symbolysing the the 4 hands of Jagannath. There must be a water body and cremation ground nearby. The tree must have a snake-pit of cobra at the roots and an ant-hill closeby. No broken branches or cut or creepers grown and no birds must have made nests in the tree. The tree would be surrounded by 3 mountains or located near a three-way and there have to be Varuna, Sahada and Billva trees close by. Anoter amazing requirement is, on the tree trunk there must be natural impressions of conch-shell and chakra. A neem tree that satisfies all the above conditions will be selected for making the idol of Lord Jagannath.
