Attukal Pongala Festival at the world renowned Attukal Bhagavathy Temple is from 27 February 2023 to 8th March 2023. This year pongala celebrations will start on 27th February, Monday at 4:30 am. Cultural programs will begin on the same date at evening 6:30 pm. The cultuaral events will be inaugurated by Malayalam cine actor Unni Mukundan.
Om 1st March 2023, Kuthiyottam ritual for boys will begin - Kutiyottam is a ritual art performed by young boys and is dedicated to Bhadrakali or Durga – a warrior goddess. The aduppuvettu ceremony for Attukal Temple pongala festival is organized at 10:30 am on 7th March. Pongala offering to Goddess Attukal Amma will be at 2:30 pm.
The annual procession to the Manacuad Sastha Temple as part of Pongala Festival will return to Attukal at 8 am on 8th March 2023. The Pongala festival will end with Kuruthitharppanam at 1 am midnight on March 8th.
