Reamker, a Cambodian epic, adapts Sanskrit's Rāmāyana with Buddhist influences portraying Rama as Phreah Ream and Sita as Neang Seda. The Guinness World Records recognizes it as the biggest religious edifice globally. Initially built as a Hindu temple devoted to the deity Vishnu in the 12th century, it underwent a gradual conversion into a Buddhist temple by the end of the same century. Consequently, it is also referred to as a "Hindu-Buddhist" temple.

The temple was initially known as Vrah Viṣṇuloka or Parama Viṣṇuloka, signifying "the sacred abode of Vishnu". The temple is renowed for its architectural magnificence and seamless blend of elements. Angkor Wat, also referred to as Nokor Wat, is the contemporary name which translates to "Temple City" or "City of Temples" in Khmer. This temple stands as a significant symbol of Cambodia and fills the nation with immense pride.
