14 Precious Articles Appeared during Samudra Manthana. Due to the continuous churning by the devas, fourteen (14) precious articles appeared on the surface of the water, namely,

1. Parijata Tree - which granted wishes
2. Elephant - Airavata
3. Chandra or Moon (which Lord Shiva took to decor his head)
4. Halahala (Kalakuta) - poison (which Shiva drank)
5. Kamadhenu - the cow which fulfills desires
6. Madira or Varuni - the Goddess of Wine
7. Apsaras - a group of Hindu Goddesses
8. White Horse Uchchaisravas
10. Panchajanya, Bow, Mace which were taken by Vishnu
12. Gems like Kausthubha and Chintamani
13. Kalpavriksha
14. Last precious article which came out from the milk ocean was Dhanwantri, the Lord of Physicians, who arrived with a bowl of amrit, the nectar of immortality. Though the asuras tried to take over the elixir, Lord Vishnu played another trick in which he appeared as the female Mohini and confounded the asuras. Thus, devas attained the elixir of immortality for themselves and the power of immortality remained in the hands of the gods.
