  3. But Vibishana cannot be counted as a Chiranjevi rite since he had a boon to remain alive only till the end of Treta Yuga. Also Ashwataama had a curse of immortality from Lord Krishna so his soul would dwindle in the places of sin alone till the end of the Kali yuga. So he cannot be counted as a true hero as he was not granted the boon for righteous reasons. Because of his curse he should be struggling.

    1. Yes! What you said the perfectly right however it will be considered as Chiranjeevi.. it might be a curse or a boon.

    2. All the chiranjeevi's wether they had a boon or curse are here to fight along with kalki avtar to end kali kali

    3. But Ashwatthama will live in Satya Yuga unlike Han8man and Vibhishana.
      Ashwatthama will rewrite all scriptures.

  4. But Ashwatama got a curse in a wrong manner so he cannot be considered a true hero as his soul would be dwindling in places of sin alone and lonely because of the curse given by Bhagwan Krishna till the end of Kali yuga. Vibishana had a boon to be alive only till the end of Treta Yuga, so I don't think he can be considered chiranjeevi.!!! Someone with more profound knowledge can give their thoughts on this.

    1. They are still alive but we can’t see them. Ved vyasa is somewhere residing near Ganga and still meditating, same goes of Parshuram. Aswtthama is struggling in the jungles of India (you can search about him there are many stories of people who saw him), Vibhishana still might be in Srilanka in Ravana’s lanka as Lord Ram told him to and Hanuman goes back forth in the whole Universe. Don’t know about the rest

  10. Chiranjivi are also considered person who lived a long life, long like a complete Yuga. So some other names are -
    1. Jambavan - He helped Lord Rama and was blessed with long life, later Krishna fought with him and killed him setting him free from this world. Krishna married his daughter.

    2. Markanday- Sage who made Mrityunjay Mantra, worshiper of Lord Shiva lived and Lord Vishnu. He lived a long life and left earth for noble cause (sorry I forgot what it was, will add as soon as possible)

    3. Devapi - He is believed to be elder brother of Shanthanu(grandfather of Pandavas), he was/is immortal sage. Scholars are confused about him and know nothing much too.

    4. Saptarishis - Seven sages,

  12. There is a shloka in sanskrit, Known as Chiranjivi shloka:
“Aswathama Balir Vyaso Hanumanash cha Vibhishana Krupacharya cha Parashuramam Saptatah Chirjeevanam”

    “अश्वत्थामाबलिर्व्यासोहनुमांश्च विभीषण:कृपश्चपरशुरामश्च सप्तैतेचिरंजीविन:।”
Which means that Aswathama, King Mahabali, Veda Vyasa, Hanuman , Vibhishana , Krupacharya and Lord Parashuram are death-defying or imperishable personalities.

Apart from these seven, Markandeya, a great rishi Who was blessed by Shiva, and Jambavan, a strong and wellknown character from Ramayana are also considered as Chiranjivins.

  16. Some are commenting Markandeya and Jambuvant are also chiranjeevi. The thing to note in this list of 7 is their remarkability.
    1. Ashwatthama used his position as son of Rajguru Dron to get training equivalent to Arjun. And when the Mahabhaarat final war ended he alongwith Kripacharya massscred the remaining Pandavsena, 5 sons of Draupadi and the unborn child of Uttara (wife of late Abhinanyu). That time Lord Shrikrishna cursed him with warts and no death.
