Bhole Nath literally means “innocent lord”. This form of Lord Shiva appears as a compassionate, kind, naive and simple protector o people. Bholenath worship is more popular in northern parts of India. In South India Shiva is popularly worshiped as Mahadeva, the Great God.
Shiva is worshiped in both fearsome and benevolent forms. Bolenath is the most attractive benevolent form of the God. Other important forms of Shiv include Nataraja, the cosmic dancer; Dakshinamurthy, the Guru or God of wisdom; and Ardhanarishvara, the combined form of Shiva Parvati.
