Narayaneeyam Day or Narayaniyam Day is celebrated at the famous Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple in Kerala annually on the on the 28th day of the Malayalam month of Vrichikam. In 2016, the Narayaneeyam Day at Guruvayur Temple is on 13 December.
What is Narayaneeyam?
Narayaneeyam is a medieval Sanskrit text dedicated to Sri Guruvayurappan (Lord Krishna) which comprises a summary study in poetic form of the Bhagavata Purana. Composed by Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri, an ardent devotee of Guruvayurappan, the holy scripture Narayaneeyam was completed and offered to Sri Krishna of Guruvayur Temple on 28th Vrischikam (November – December). Every year Narayaniyam day is celebrated on Guruvayoor Temple in memory of this incident.
